When Franchesca started her independent practice, I stayed on at Heimo Schulzer Gardens as Head of Design specialising in luxury residential projects. Today I run my own Landscape Design practice based in Cape Town. The natural and cultural diversity of the city affords me the opportunity to design in a broad range of styles, from ultra-contemporary gardens on the Atlantic Seaboard, to mountainous fynbos gardens, to the grand old gardens of the Constantia Valley.
With a degree in Fine Arts and a deep love for nature, I chose to channel my creative skills into Landscape Design at the young age of 22. While working and travelling abroad, I began studying Garden Design in London but soon moved home to South Africa and continued my learning as assistant to the acclaimed Garden Designer, Franchesca Watson.
Ten years into my career, I picked up the books again, this time studying permaculture, food production and ecological design. This proved to be an invaluable extension of my design offering as Cape Town entered the most severe drought experienced in the last century. With pride I can say that today my gardens are more resilient and healthy as I strive to contribute positively towards our fragile ecosystem.
